My Fairytale

Once upon a time in the busy town very far away called Pleasantville, there lived a quiet young man named Bob. He owned his own business in the middle of town. Many people knew Bob to be smart, handsome and nice but somehow, he still was not able to find himself a girlfriend or wife. This problem lingered in Bob's mind every day and he would always try to come up with solutions. He tried new haircuts, talking to people he would normally talk to and working out. None of these seemed to work at all.

One day Bob runs into his friend Billy, who is known to be a loud, arrogant jerk around town. They start talking and Bob finds out that Billy had a beautiful wife. This puzzled Bob as he thought to himself, "This just doesn't make any sense, who would marry him?!" After their conversation, Bob decides that he will become a jerk and see if that will help him find a girlfriend.

The next day, a girl named Jane comes to visit Bob at his home. Jane is Bob's friend that moved out of town to pursue her career. When they were in school together, Jane used to like Bob a lot. Bob lets her in and they start talking about how their lives were going. During the conversation, Bob gets a phone call from one of his workers, who was sick and asked for the day off because he was sick. To make himself look like a tough boss, Bob yells at the employee through the phone and hangs the phone while he tries to explain. Jane looks at him and says "You've changed a lot since I last saw you and I don't like it". Then, she proceeds to the door and heads home.

This devastates Bob. He feels like he has no chance to get with anyone anymore. Bob calls Billy and asks for his help.

"How did you end up with such a beautiful wife?" says Bob

"Honestly, I don't know" says Billy "Most girls didn't like me but kept being myself and she eventually came along"

Right then, Bob noticed that trying to change himself was the wrong thing to do. He calls Jane to try to ask her out. He explains why he seemed so different and promised to her that he will never be like that again. Jane seemed to be hesitant at first but decided to give him one last chance. They meet up at a restaurant in town, Bob treats her to good food. The whole night Bob kept repeating the phrase "Just be yourself" in his head. At the end of the night, Bob drops Jane home and they plan their many future dates. All seems well in Pleasantville and they lived happily ever after

Community and You

1. New York City
2. 59th St & 5th Avenue
3. Fordham Road
4. Crotona Park
5. Union Square
6. Washington Heights

Crotona Park
This community matters to me because it is the community that I live in. My family has lived there for 10 years but I personally have lived there for 8 years. Even though I still do not know many people in the area, I play many sports with people that go to the park and I participate in the community service activities in the area. These activities include cleaning the park, planting trees and even hosting barbecues. more middle class people are starting to move into the area and that is causing tension with the people that already live there.

59th St & 5th
This community matters to me because it is the community I work in. It is a very busy street because it has many places to shop and many more tourists. I work at the Hollister on 5th Ave that opened recently. I get to work with many new workers and I also get to talk to many of the tourists and assist them in and out the store. I don't see many tensions in the area because not many people actually live there. The only places people live is in the hotels in the area
